Choosing the Right Power Setup

The Wild Beak EasyFeeder is designed to give you flexibility in how it's powered, depending on where and how you're using it. Whether you're feeding birds in a remote woodland or running a poultry pen closer to home, picking the right power setup will ensure consistent performance day after day.

Battery Options: 6 V vs. 12 V

The EasyFeeder is compatible with both 6 volt and 12 volt batteries. Here's a simple guide to help you choose:

  • 6 V Batteries
Ideal for smaller feed setups or situations where feed spread distance isn't a priority.
Recommended battery: 6 V 4.5 Ah with spade connectors.
  • 12 V Batteries
Better suited for larger pens, stronger feed throw, and longer battery life.
Recommended battery: 12 V 7 Ah rechargeable sealed lead acid type.

Both options are rechargeable and should be used with the correct matching motor and timer settings.

Why Consider a Solar Panel?

If you want to reduce the hassle of manually recharging batteries, especially in remote or hard-to-access locations, the optional solar panel is a smart addition.

  • Extends battery life by maintaining a steady charge
  • Low maintenance once installed
  • Great for off-grid use or where feeders are left unattended for long periods

Just mount the panel in a position that gets regular daylight, and let it do the work.

Power Connection Tips

  • Always match battery voltage to your motor and timer module
  • Use correct polarity when connecting terminals
  • Keep wires protected from weather, wildlife, and accidental damage
  • Check battery charge levels periodically to ensure consistent feeding

In Summary

If you want a simpler setup with occasional battery checks, a 12 V or 6V battery alone may be enough. If you’re setting up feeders in isolated areas or want less maintenance, adding the solar panel gives you greater independence and reliability.
