Choosing The Right Power Setup

The Wild Beak EasyFeeder can run on different power sources depending on where it's installed. Choosing the right setup ensures reliable, consistent feeding whether you're in a remote woodland or a backyard poultry area.

Battery Options: 6 V vs. 12 V

The EasyFeeder works with both 6 V and 12 V batteries:

  • 6 V Batteries
Ideal for smaller setups or where feed-spread distance isn’t crucial.
Recommended battery: 6 V 4.5 Ah with spade connectors.
  • 12 V Batteries
Best for larger pens, stronger throw, and longer runtimes.
Recommended battery: 12 V 7 Ah sealed lead acid.

Always pair the battery voltage with the correct motor and timer settings.

Why Consider a Solar Panel?

The optional solar panel reduces the need for manual recharging—especially useful for remote feeders.

  • Extends battery life by topping up charge during daylight
  • Low maintenance once installed
  • Ideal for off-grid or infrequently visited feeders

For best performance, mount the solar panel where it receives consistent daylight.

Power Connection Tips

  • Match battery voltage to motor and timer
  • Check polarity before connecting terminals
  • Protect cables from weather and wildlife
  • Check charge levels occasionally for consistent feeding

In Summary

For simple setups, a standalone 6 V or 12 V battery works well. In remote or low-maintenance installations, adding the solar panel provides longer-term reliability.
